This Statesville sidewalk had years of mold and organic growth packed into every joint and across every brick face. That kind of buildup doesn't happen overnight - it creeps in slowly, and most homeowners don't notice how bad it's gotten until it's really bad.
Here's what we were working with: a herringbone-pattern brick walkway running from the street straight up to the front porch. The kind of walkway that should be a focal point of a home's curb appeal. Instead, it had gone dark and dingy from years of neglect. Mold, algae, biological growth - all of it settling into the texture of the brick and making the whole front yard look tired.
We came in with our pressure washing setup and worked the full length of the walkway, brick by brick. The goal isn't just to blast water at a surface and call it done. You have to use the right pressure and the right approach for the material you're working on. Too aggressive on brick pavers and you risk damaging the joints. Too light and you're not actually removing the growth - just pushing it around.
The finished result speaks for itself. The brick's natural warm red tones came back strong. Clean joint lines, no streaking, no leftover organic material clinging to the surface. It looks like a completely different walkway - because it basically is.
Mold and algae aren't just an eyesore either. Over time, that kind of growth makes surfaces slippery and can start to break down the material underneath. Getting it cleaned isn't just about looks - it's about protecting what you've got.
